Yerrabi District Park upgrades

The Yerrabi District Park Upgrade has revitalised one of Gungahlin’s most popular parks by replacing ageing amenities with new, accessible toilet blocks and picnic areas. BMCA provided Principal’s Authorised Person services, combining contract administration and construction oversight to support successful renewal of the public space.

Our team worked closely with the client, contractor and design consultants across three park areas – each with unique requirements and community expectations. Works included the demolition and reconstruction of toilet and picnic structures, amenity upgrades near the commercial precinct, and a new toilet block at the busy Bizant Street Playground.

Key project features
  • New toilet and picnic facilities across three precincts
  • Structural redesigns including bored pile foundations
  • Real-time issue resolution and contract negotiation
  • Coordination with utility providers (Icon Water, EvoEnergy)
  • Community-sensitive delivery during election period
  • Protection of existing trees and park assets

With high public visibility and political interest, BMCA played a key role in managing community and stakeholder expectations. Letter drops, pre-construction meetings and regular updates to the client supported clear communication throughout.

Several design changes emerged during delivery – including the need to demolish and reconstruct roof structures, foundation redesigns due to weak subsoils and additional toilet privacy screens. BMCA’s early intervention and collaborative approach ensured these issues were resolved without major delay, while maintaining quality and compliance.

The project also required close coordination with utility providers to meet tight construction timeframes. Delays in approval for a critical sewer connection saw our team employ adaptive planning and responsive reporting. The use of our custom-built ConstructionEye platform also supported timely decision-making and minimised risks to the broader program.

Despite scope changes and utility challenges, the project was completion within the extended timeframe.

Our integrated approach combining technical insight, real-time construction monitoring and contract leadership – demonstrates our commitment to delivering functional, community-first infrastructure.
