Stromlo District Playing Fields design coordination

Black Mountain Construction Assurance (BMCA) is leading the design coordination of the future Stromlo District Playing Fields – realising the ACT Government’s vision for a major new recreation hub within Stromlo Forest Park.

Our design management is ensuring all elements are integrated seamlessly – from infrastructure and environmental considerations to stakeholder engagement. This coordinated approach supports the delivery of world-class playing fields and amenities for Canberra’s growing Molonglo community.

Key design considerations
  • Tree removal and replacement
  • Relocation of potable water infrastructure in partnership with Icon Water
  • Bushfire risk mitigation
  • Downstream stormwater impacts and treatment
  • Addressing legacy issues in road infrastructure
Scope of works
  • Five playing fields, including a turf AFL/cricket oval and two rectangular grass fields
  • Supporting infrastructure such as roads, car parking, toilet blocks, lighting and change rooms
  • A tree planting program aligned with government canopy targets
  • Windbreaks and a stormwater retention pond to manage landscape and water quality
  • Noise and light mitigation measures to reduce impacts on neighbouring residents

Our team is playing a key role in ensuring the project meets the community’s recreational needs while respecting environmental and heritage values.

Our leadership in stakeholder coordination and infrastructure planning is supporting the ACT Government to deliver a key component of the Stromlo Forest Park masterplan – building a healthier, more connected future for Canberra.
